Synergy Workshop - tap dance and live music in Winterthur, Switzerland
Now for something completely different: this is about a workshop for tap dancers and musicians. Together with an incredible tap dancer (Daniel Borak) and a highly creative multi-instrumentalist and composer (Kilian Deissler), I will be giving a workshop for tap dancers and musicians.
The goal is to increase both the dancers and the musicians skills; better phrasing, tighter movements for the dancers and the opportunity for musicians to play new arrangements and compositions live with tap dancers. There will be group lessons as well as individual coaching.
Check out the flyer if you are able to read German and living close to Winterthur. =)

with renewed energy on the way to new musical endeavors
Dear visitors of my official Marimba Artist website
I am fully aware of the fact that my website lacks new entries such as news or upcoming concerts. Unfortunately, I am not able to be on stage as often as I would like to be.
This is mainly because the marimba is still such an unknown instrument in Switzerland (which is a super small country anyway) and "people usually don`t miss what they don`t know", but also because I have found myself in quite an artistic crisis over the last couple of months.
Now that this crisis is over and now that I have new energy for work besides teaching a lot of wonderful children, teenagers and adults, this website as well as my facebook fan page shall become more attractive again. Of course, this will take some time as I do need to launch new projects and get new concerts. The direction I intend to go in is away from the "cliché classical music" towards my own music and my own art.
Here is a little sneak peek of what you might see more often in future concerts of mine...

new year, new concerts, new plans
The two concerts with the vocal ensemble "stimmig!" were a total success. People were standing up from their seats, enchanted by the voices of the ensemble and my marimba playing. My light show in the dark church were a total surprise, and I am sure that people want to see more of it.
This is why a new project is about to go into its next phase of planing.
Let`s see, where this goes!

"Marimba Duritebe" - Marimba solo with wind ensemble, THIS WEEKEND!!!
This saturday and sunday, November 21st and 22nd, I will play a short solo part with the "Stadtmusik Dietikon".
The piece by Austrian Johann Hausl is a groovy, entertaining piece that brings some fresh sounds into my repertoire.
In the remaining program, which contains mostly movie soundtracks, I will of course still play the mallets in the background. Why not?
Looking forward to it!

What a wonderful feedback for my composition "Anna"
Sometime around September this year, I received an email of a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin, saying that she found my marimba composition "Anna" online and that she simply had to have the sheet music.
Here are those wonderful words she wrote that motivate me to compose again.
"I found your marimba solo, "Anna," online, and I fell in love with it! I would love to play it (…)"
(J.K., Sophomore Music Education Major at the University of Tennessee at Martin)
Soon enough, I will sit down again and compose.
Thank you, Jenna, for those inspiring words and enjoy my composition.

I am terribly sorry to announce that the concert on March 22nd has been cancelled, due to unfortunate circumstances.
The idea of a concert with Marimba and Cello lives on though, and there will be an opportunity to hear us in the near future.

Concert with Organ and Marimba rescheduled for April 27, 2014
The concert of February 23, 2014 had to be postponed, due to a double-booking by the host of the concert. The good news is; the pleasure of performing Bach`s d-minor Concerto (BWV 1052) together with the outstanding Russian musician Asiya Korepanova is still mine. Not this month, but in April this year.
